The Keane’s Barbecue story

Keane’s Wood-Fired Catering brings the bold, authentic flavors of wood-fired cooking to weddings, corporate events, and private celebrations across Southern New England. Founded in 2016 by husband-and-wife team Padraic and Kaylyn Keane, the company has become a trusted catering partner known for exceptional food, outstanding customer service, and an elevated barbecue dining experience.


Padraic’s passion for hospitality began in his family’s village pub in Galway, Ireland, where he learned the foundations of entrepreneurship and the value of genuine, reliable service. After moving to the U.S. in 2015, he discovered a passion for traditional southern barbecue building his first smoker at the Steel Yard in Providence—and turned that spark into a thriving business.


From catering their very first event at Whalers Brewing in South Kingstown to opening their state-of-the-art facility on Warwick Avenue in 2023, Keane’s has continued to grow its reputation for exceptional quality and seamless service. Today, the team—supported by Chef Esteban Gonzalez and Events Managers Kym Gardner and Alicia Cappellan—specializes in smoked meats, seasonal sides, house-made pickles and sauces, and full-service catering options including curated bar services, coffee, desserts, rentals, and more.

When it came time to choose a meal for our wedding, it was important that we were able to try the food before selecting a caterer. Keane's offers carryout meals on Friday with a generous discount for prospective couples. As soon as we tried their incredible barbeque we knew we had found the right choice. Having lived in Texas previously, we know good barbeque and Keane's absolutely hit the mark. In addition to the incredible food, communication was superb. We chose a variety of passed appetizers for cocktail hour and a buffet style dinner service with local fish from Point Judith, chicken, pulled pork, and brisket. Sides included the best Mac and cheese, roasted potatoes, and a fall salad. Keane's also offers day of coordination and Kym was a delight to work with helping keep everything organized and on time. We did the majority of the wedding planning ourselves so it was incredibly reassuring to have Kym's attentive and thorough review and oversight of the final details. Kym helped develop a final schedule and communicate details to all of our vendors ensuring all the details came together without a hitch. We were able to drop off all of our decor at Keane's headquarters and they delivered everything to the venue and set up everything on site. Kym and her team made sure that we were taken care of throughout the entire night, greeting us with champagne as soon as the ceremony ended and saving a reserved tray of appetizers to make sure we got to try everything! The whole Keane's team was incredibly friendly and multiple guests remarked that they have never seen such a friendly catering staff. And our Texan guests left impressed with the quality of Rhode Island barbeque and the "best brisket we've ever had'. We can't wait to grab another takeout meal soon!

Keane's catered our wedding in 2022. Everyone still raves about it. We recently got take-out for a holiday gathering. It was equally delicious! It gave us more time to spend with guests but also indulge on the most delicious food! Highly recommend. We will be back more regularly. The staff are great. Keanes provided an incredible level of service for our wedding! Kym was amazingly communicative and so helpful during the planning process, and Luke and the entire event team were warm, professional, and went above and beyond to provide us an unforgettable experience. The food is truly incredible and was the most talked about thing by all our guests! The cocktails were delicious, and the bar service was so efficient and well run. I cannot recommend them enough for events big and small, and I’m so excited to get their takeout to have that pulled pork again!

Where do I even begin! Keane's was AMAZING. I can't even tell you how many people came up to us saying it was the best wedding food they've ever had (which we're very happy about because that was one of our top priorities). During dinner was the only part of the day that I got to have a real meal and when I tell you I devoured my plate.. lol. Not only was the food delicious, but the staff was incredible. They were so helpful throughout the entire night and they were so fun! We saw them dancing with us while the DJ was playing, such great energy! It really does make all the difference. They also have so many great selections for rentals, I'm so happy with the way everything came out. From placement, to colors, to glassware, everything. My husband and I couldn't be more grateful for having Keane's at our wedding. Thank you for the best night guys!

This was my second year of having Keane’s cater my annual 5th of July party, and they did not disappoint! I had Keane’s cater Brisket, Pulled Pork & boneless/skinless Chicken thighs. If I could give Keane’s ten stars I would. Keane’s catered my wedding in Massachusetts. Throughout the entire process the team was incredibly thoughtful and organized. They answered every question promptly and with tons of detail giving me endless confidence as I planned my wedding from 3,000 miles away. The food was delicious. Set up was impeccable and the team’s willingness to be flexible cannot be matched.
